Trying the Art Journal Thing

I've never been an artist, nor a diary-writer.  So why start an Art Journal?   It's fun!  I started on my birthday, and have done something in the Art Journal for four months now.  I don't create or write everyday, but at least 4 times a week.  Sometimes I use rubber stamps, sometime's I paint flowers, or I may just try out some hand lettering.  Practice is good, right??

Here's a photo of today's entry:

I just started using watercolors a few months ago, too.  I can't say that I'm very good at it, but my goal isn't to be an artist, but to have fun being creative.  The paints I'm using are like the sparkling watercolors in the little jars, but it's a paint palette.  I don't remember the name.  It's a cheapie one from Michael's.  If you look closely, you can see the shimmer.

I got the idea of this journal page from this site.  Dion Dior has such wonderful, colorful art!  She's fantastic.  I look at the Internet (way too often) to find inspiration.

Here's a final look at today's page.  You can see the stenciling on this one.

The Benefits of Not Being Organized

I will admit that I am not the most organized person in the world.  I have things everywhere.  Oh, sure, I've got baskets for old photos, containers for buttons and do-dads, but I also have boxes filled with old bills, a few pens that may or may not work, bits and pieces of things, and outdated magazines.  These items usually end up in the boxes because they've been on a counter or an end table when company is coming over.  I'm too lazy busy to go through everything and put it in its proper place.

My disorganization does have its advantages, though.  When looking through stacks of things, I often find something that brings back wonderful memories.  Yesterday, for example, I ran across these beauties:

a photo of my son when he was around 3 years old

NCAA tickets from the first time my son and husband went to the NCAA tournament.  They've gone every year since.

Won't these be fun to get into a scrapbook?  True, if I were more organized, I would have known where they were, but it's just more fun to run across them unexpectedly.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I Have a Crafty Idea!

I'm one of those people with lots of ideas, but spend too much time on the Internet and Pinterest looking for MORE ideas.  So my goal is to actually post some of my ideas and CASEs to show what I've actually completed.  I may tell a story or two along the way--I just can't  help it!
